The festival of Onam was celebrated by the Symbiosis School of International Studies on 29th August 2023. The programme began at 2.30pm and was graced by the presence of the Director of the institute, Professor Shivali Lawale, the faculty as well as the non-teaching staff members. An auspicious start to the programme was marked with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by the director, faculty members, non-teaching staff as well as student representatives from both the batches. Following this, two students enlightened the crowd on the historical origin of Onam and spoke of its cultural significance. The junior batch put up the traditional dance or ‘Thiruvathira’ which is associated with the festival of Onam itself, which was followed by a group song by the junior members, a song capturing the traditional spirit of Onam from the senior batch as well as a dance programme involving both the batches. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks rendered by Dr. Alvite Singh Ningthoujam who, on behalf of the students and faculty, offered gratitude to the Director of the institute as well as the Symbiosis International University for granting the opportunity to conduct the programme. The programme ended on a happy note with the students and staff enjoying the tea and snacks arranged by the institute.
