Eligibility:

Candidate should be a Graduate from any statutory university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC and ST) at the graduation level.

Additional note:

a) Candidates appearing for final year examination can also apply, but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC and ST) in the qualifying examination

b) A candidate who has completed qualifying qualification from any Foreign Board/ University must obtain an equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Reservation Policy:

The following are the reservation rules that shall be followed while admitting Indian students

1. Scheduled Caste : 15%

2. Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%

3. Differently Abled : 3%

4. Kashmiri Migrants: 2 over and above the programme intake.

5. Admissions of all International Students including foreign nationals, PIO & NRI are done through The International Office of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Kindly refer to www.scie.ac.in

Policy of admission against vacant seats under reserved category

In case some seats remain vacant due to the non-availability of suitable candidates under the category of reservations, then, the information about the vacant seats will be reported to Symbiosis International (Deemed University). With the permission of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, the seats will be converted to the general category seats and shortlisted students will be offered these seats.

Documents required by SIU for Confirmation of Eligibility for Post Graduate Programmes

The Indian candidates shall submit the following documents for grant of eligibility for admission to the programmes offered by the University:

  • Self -attested photocopies Statement of marks of all semesters/years of qualifying examination issued by the qualifying Board/Recognized university/ and also by Autonomous colleges, whose degrees are awarded by the Recognized University. In case of any back log admission will be cancelled.
  • Self -attested passing certificate/degree certificate of qualifying examination issued by the Board/ Recognized University/and also by autonomous college whose degrees are awarded by the Recognized University.
  • Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programme shall submit transfer certificate from the school/ college/ institute last attended as the case may be.
  • Migration certificate in original issued by the Board / Recognized University last attended.
  • Candidates who have obtained degree from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and are seeking admission to any other programme of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
  • University are not required to submit Migration certificate. However they shall submit Transfer certificate in original, issued by the constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) last attended.
  • Candidates seeking admission in any part time programme of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) need not submit Migration certificate.
  • Candidate who has gap of one year or more in the continuation of education is required to submit the declaration on an affidavit or in the gap format (available in the Eligibility Rule book at the respective Institute)
  • A Candidate seeking admission against SC/ ST Category shall submit the category certificate issued by the Tehsildar/ Deputy Collector/ Sub Divisional Magistrate of the area or by the competent authority.
  • The candidate applying for admission to any constituent Institute of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) under the Differently Abled (DA) category should produce a certificate fulfilling the requirement of admission under differently abled category (DAC), issued by the competent medical authority based on which provisional admission may be granted.
  • The candidate will have to get the disability authenticated from Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC), the admission may be considered as regularized only after due authentication by SCHC.
  • A candidate seeking admission under the category of Jammu & Kashmir Migrant in type J1, J2, J3 shall submit the Migrant certificate in original issued by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • A candidate seeking under Defence category shall submit the authenticated photocopy of Identity card as a proof of dependent of Defence personnel.
  • A candidate shall submit change of name certificate, if his/ her name has been changed due to any reason and is not the same as mentioned in the certificates/ mark sheets of qualifying examination. A copy of Government Gazette in proof of change of name shall be submitted.
  • Candidate who have been awarded diploma by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) approved autonomous polytechnic in Maharashtra state or its equivalent and taking admission to 2nd year of B.Tech Programme of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) shall submit equivalence certificate issued by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE).
  • The candidates who have been awarded diploma by Government Polytechnic need not submit equivalence certificate.
  • Equivalence certificate: AIU equivalence is required in case of a degree from Foreign University.
  • Experience certificate wherever applicable (For eg: MBA (AB), MBA (EE) programme of SIIB)
  • Registration certificate - Registration certificate wherever applicable. (Applicable in case of MBA (HHM) programme of SIHS)
  • Industry Sponsored letter in case of admission under Industry Sponsored category.

The following two additional documents need to be submitted in conformity with UGC/SIU norms

  • Anti Ragging affidavit duly signed by Student and Parent
  • Indemnification/ Healthcare Undertaking duly signed by Student and Parent

All admission is provisional and will be confirmed only on submission of all documents, verified and approved by SIU eligibility verification team and notification from Registrar's office.

# ONLY foreign national students taking Admission in the year 2025 for the Batch 2025-2027, will be eligible for the Symbiosis Golden Jubilee Scholarship . Designed to celebrate 50 glorious years of Symbiosis being established to offer quality education to foreign national students, these include:

(1) 100 Symbiosis Golden Jubilee Full Academic Scholarships with need-based reduced hostel fees for foreign national students from developing African-Asian countries.

(2) 100 Golden Jubilee Free-ships for academically and financially deserving foreign national students from conflict ridden/war affected regions by giving them an opportunity to study at SIU by covering not only the cost of all academic fees but also the hostel and mess/food fees (lodging and boarding).

(3) Concessional Hostel fees are applicable to Foreign National students @650$ per annum.

(4) Concessional Mess fees are applicable to Foreign National students @560$ per annum.

ENTRANCE TEST: PI

As a non – SNAP institute, Personal Interaction (PI) is the activity of selection process for the M.A. (International Studies) course offered by Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS). After successful online registration and payment of fee, subject to fulfilment of admission criteria, shortlisted candidates would be notified of the call for PI via email. They would need to select the preferred slot, as mentioned in the communication and follow the instructions provided in the call letter.

The PI will be conducted online. The link will be shared with candidates prior to the PI depending on the slot booked.

  • Personal Interaction (PI)
  • The applicant will be facing an interview conducted by a panel that consists of at least two members. The interview would cover general awareness, clarity of thought and articulation, logical reasoning, learning orientation, motivation, extracurricular activities, specific field of interest, communication and soft skills and over all personality.
  • PI Centre
    For Admissions, the entrance test is online PI. Candidates are not required to report to campus for entrance test.
  • The candidates would need to report on time for the Online PI and scan and email to the SSIS Admissions Team, the essential documents for eligibility verification. The documents include:

    • Self-Attested Copy of Photo identity (Std. XII Admit Card/ Driving license/Passport)
    • Self-Attested Copy of Category certificate (Caste, Differently Abled, Kashmiri migrants) (If Applicable)

International Students

Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) handles all subject matters relating to admissions of International Students to the constituent institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Categories listed under International Students Admissions are as follows:

Foreign National (FN):

A student is eligible to apply as a Foreign National (FN) if he/she holds a foreign passport.

Person of Indian Origin (PIO):

A student is eligible to apply as a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) if he/she has a PIO card and is a citizen of a country other than India.

Non Resident Indian (NRI):

(At Postgraduate Level)
A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she has appeared either for the 10+2 examination (equivalent to the Indian 12th) or Graduation outside India. It is mandatory for one of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India. International students are able to apply online and need only come to India when his/her application is shortlisted for the chosen programme. The application procedure consists of 15 simple steps; it begins with a basic eligibility check of important documents to be submitted and concludes with the final payment confirming admission.

The hostel seats at Symbiosis Hostel (VimanNagar - old and new campus), are limited in number and are allotted on first come- first serve basis. There is a strict code of conduct practised at all Symbiosis Hostels. Students wishing to stay in any wing of Symbiosis Hostel, Viman nagar will have to abide by the code of conduct.


HOSTEL DETAILS VIMANNAGAR CAMPUS

1. The following five hostels have been earmarked for students taking admission in the first year:

(a) Daisy -3 x sharing for Girls located at a distance of 1 km from the Old Vimannagar campus & 300 mtrs from the New Vimannagar campus.
(b) Orchid -2 x sharing for Girls co located with Daisy.
(c) Daffodil - 2 x sharing for Girls located at a distance of 300 mtrs from the Old Vimannagar campus.
(d) Tulip- 3 x sharing for Girls located in the New Vimannagar campus
(e) Kopou - 3 x sharing for Boys located at a distance of 600 mtrs from the Old Vimannagar
campus & 1 Km from the New Vimannagar campus.

Hostel Rules & Regulations

Examination



SSIS is guided by the SIU examination policy and rules in the conduct of examination.

CBCS: Choice Based Credit System.As per the CBCS, grade point will be allotted to each letter grade on a 10 point grade scale with grades denoted by letters O, A+, A, B+, B, C, P, F and AB.

Examination: It is the entire session of assessment carried at SSIS and the university level which includes both continuous and term-end evaluation

Examination Session: It is the time slot assigned for a particular examination. Generally there shall be two sessions per day , however additional sessions might be conducted with prior permission.

Examination Season : The academic year is divided into two examination seasons – October Season and April Season. All examinations held between September to December will be counted as held in October Season. All examinations held between January to June will be counted as held in April Season.

Evaluation: The evaluation includes continuous and term end evaluations. The term end evaluation, summative in nature, is conducted by the University at the end of every term. The continuous evaluation pattern, formative in nature, aims at multi- level assessment and is spread across the term. Passing in a course means securing 40% of absolute marks in each of the heads of Continuous evaluation and Term end examination.

Course Not Granted (CNG): Minimum 75 % attendance is mandatory for a student to be eligible for appearing in the term-end examination of a particular course. If the course attendance is below 75% then the student will not be granted the permission to appear for the examination of the concerned course. If cumulative attendance for all courses of the semester is more than 75% CNG should not be given.

Term not Granted (TNG): Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory for all the students to be eligible to appear for the external examination of all courses of the term . If the aggregate attendance is below 75% then the student will not be granted the permission to appear for the term-end examination.

ATKT ( Allowed to keep Term ) Rules: A student cannot appear for end Semester 3 exams if he/ she has CGPA less than 4.00 up to Semester -1 irrespective of number of backlogs in Semester I. He/she cannot appear for end Semester 4 exams if he/ she has CGPA less than 4.00 up to Semester -2 irrespective of number of backlogs in Semester II.

Validity of terms: The students admitted to all post graduate programmes of the University, will be allowed to keep terms for a period of one year from the date of admission beyond the normal period of the programme, i.e. the students joining a two years programme must complete the programme in three years from the date of admission.
