Students of International Studies (IS) go on to work in government agencies, international organisations, financial institutions, journalism and corporations, international and local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international and local private firms, development consultancies and think-tanks. Whether students have a clear idea about what they want to pursue after their programme or they have not started thinking about it yet- our 6 to 8 weeks internship term provides students with the clarity and knowledge on the vast range of career prospects open to IS students.
A high quality education should offer a “capstone experience.” At Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) the M.A. (International Studies) programme offers two such opportunities through the internship and dissertation. The internship opportunity exposes students to hands-on activities that allow them to put into practice many of the skills they have been learning in the classroom. The internship also introduces students to experienced people in the field, who can guide them toward a career.
The internship term provides students with an opportunity to learn and observe appropriate work behaviour, professionalism, attitude, punctuality, interpersonal relations, and formal communications. The internship term at SSIS is a supervised activity in which students experience the integration of their curricular studies in a professional environment.
