Iran-India Roundtable Discussion

Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) hosted the "Iran-India roundtable discussion on Geo-political Strategic Alliance" on 24th of September 2016.

H.E. Ambassador Gholamreza Ansari, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to India, and Ambassador (retd.) Dinkar Shrivastava, addressed the students of SSIS during the event. The event was also attended by Dr. Shirish Sahasrabudhe, Director (ELTIS).

The discussion covered the following key points:

  1. Bilateral relations post Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Iran.
  2. Internal struggle in West Asia and its implications for the world.
  3. Emergence of radicalism and role of India and Iran.

Both the distinguished speakers shared their views on the contemporary significance of peace and regional stability and how connectivity and bilateral relations can be improved between the two nations. To promote regional stability in the West Asian region, Ambassador Ansari stressed on the importance of empowering independent governments through "Ballot Boxes not Bullets".

The discussion was followed by an interactive question and answer session with the students.
