India- China Relations: Exploring New Partnerships

As part of its Strategic Dialogue series, the Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS) organized a policy dialogue titled ‘China & India Relations: Exploring New Partnerships’. The event was held at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) campus in Pune on 23 February 2016. The programme commenced with the Pune launch of the book ‘China: Behind the Miracle’ authored by Ms. Sumita Dawra, Secretary to the State Government of Andhra Pradesh (Department of Higher Education), at the hands of Prof. Dr. SB Mujumdar, Hon’ble Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

This was followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Ambassador (Retd.) M.K. Managalmurti. The eminent panel members were Mr. Jayadeva Ranade, President of the Centre for China Analysis and Strategy, New Delhi; Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, former Director of UNESCO’s office in Beijing and Ms. Sumita Dawra. The panel deliberated on the multifaceted aspects of India -China bilateral relations and the way ahead. The emphasis was on strategies for national and regional security, education policy and policies for economic and human resource development. The discussion was followed by a lively Q & A session. The international students engaged with the speakers in sharing their concerns on the possible impact of the rise of the two Asian giants in their own countries. The event was well attended by students, faculty, directors and high level committee members of Symbiosis, Pune.
