20th February, 2024

Symbiosis School of International Studies organized a lecture on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and its relations with the Indo-Pacific region. The distinguished guest Ms. Sophie Briquetti, a political officer on partnership and cooperation, led the lecture, an international staff of NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Her presence at SSIS marked a significant milestone for the institution and further created a lifetime opportunity for the student to discuss NATO’s presence in the international forum and the various improvements and developments the organization has imposed in this fast-changing world. Ms. Briquetti spoke on NATO’s collective defense, crisis management, and cooperative security and mentioned that NATO mainly focuses on defense and security to result in good governance and combat illegal trade between armed forces. The students also engaged in asking questions to Ms. Briquetti on various aspects and issues that interest students regarding NATO and its involvement in particular events. It was an insightful session for the students and the faculty of SSIS to listen to Ms. Briquetti’s lecture on a crucial topic of international relations.
